A major Kabbalistic classic, composed by Rabbi Joseph Gikatilla (1248-1310) at the age of 26. The author who lived in Spain, was a student of Rabbi Avraham Abulafia. Rabbi Yosef Gikatilla was known as a holy man and was often called Ba'al Nissim [master of miracles].

This book deals with the Names of God and the kabbalistic iterpretation of the Hebrew vowels (i.e, each vowel corresponding to one of the ten Sefirot). In this work he quotes Rambam, Rabbi Shlomo ibn Gabirol, Rabbi Shmuel HaNaggid, and Rabbi Avraham ibn Ezra.(Kabbalah)
