The impenetrable substance of this world was, for Rabbi Kaplan, a diamond, waiting to be cut, exposing a myriad of faces all reflecting the brilliant light of truth. Rabbi kaplan believed that a rapidly changing scientific and intellectual environment is creating fertile ground for Jewish ideology to challenge the myths of contemporary civilization. As modern exploration and science grows in sophistication, it's becoming the ally of authentic belief instead of its enemy. He believed that contemporary Judaism contains sufficient spiritual and intellectual force with which to transform the world and teach it the meaning of a life of discipline, principle, religious truth and grandeur through adherence to the laws of Shabbat, Kashrut, family purity and moral living.
