When Miriam Marlin, a young teenager, is seriously burned in a freak accident, she is afraid and embarrassed to face the world again – this time with a highly visible and humiliating scar. A serendipitous chance to go to school abroad brings the hope of rehabilitation, both physical and emotional.
Having little choice, Miriam must learn how to carry out the unique mission Hashem has given her. She makes new friends and acquires new mentors, all of whom are personal messengers orchestrated by the Conductor above to help bring about change and hope to Miriam – and subsequently to those around her.
To be human is to be blessed with one’s very own, distinctive challenges. As no one escapes the vicissitudes of life, this novel with a message speaks to us all.
