A translation of Rabbi Nachman's Sefer HaMiddot: his famous collection of epigrams and aphorisms on all aspects of life. What do we gain by feeling happy and feeling good, by telling the truth or by giving charity? What do we lose by getting depressed, by being jealous or by succumbing to our weaknesses? What's the best way to make it big-financially and spiritually? Where can we go for some good advice? Why are we sometimes filled with suffering and anxiety? More importantly, how do we get rid of them? Rabbi Nachman addressed these and other relevant questions in this, his earliest work. He originally compiled this work to inspire himself in his own spiritual climb. He grouped them by subject in the order of the Hebrew alphabet. Calling his work "my dear, beloved friend," Rabbi Nachman finally revealed it to his follow, who have treasured it ever since.
